And just like that... the final days of classes and concerts bring the winter term and 2024-25 academic year to an end, but not before we get to enjoy some terrific year-end performances.
We are pleased to welcome Steven Osborne as this year’s guest artist for the Vancouver Recital Society Visiting Artist Series. Pianist Steven Osborne, OBE, is one of Britain’s most treasured musicians with an immense depth of musicality and exceptional refinement of expression across diverse repertoire. As part of the VRS Visiting Artist Series supported by alumna Elaine Adair, he will provide two wonderful (and free!) opportunities for our students and community to learn and engage; a solo evening recital on Apr. 1 and a masterclass on Apr. 2. This will be the second recital and masterclass to take place as part of the new partnership between Vancouver Recital Society and Western University.
Student composers and chamber group musicians cap their collaborative year with a showcase gala featuring new compositions written by current students. Electroacoustic compositions written by students are also premiered this month.
Choirs sing their annual farewell with Western University Singers up first performing a joyful concert on Apr. 3 and Chorale and Les Choristes jointly performing to close out the choral season on Apr. 4.
Student credit recitals typically continue throughout the month, even after classes conclude on April 4.

Ensemble Auditions
Are you a Western student and play an instrument or sing? All Western students – regardless of major – are eligible to audition for ensembles and opera.
Opera at Western
It's an exciting year for Opera at Western with two upcoming fully-staged productions from Rossini and Britten, and an afternoon opera/musical theatre gala.
New Horizons Band
Do you want to learn (or re-learn) to play wind or percussion instruments? New Horizons Band is a popular community outreach program for adults.
