Society of Graduate Students in Music (SOGSIM) Annual Graduate Symposium
Organized by our doctoral students, the annual Western University Graduate Symposium on Music (WUGSOM) draws presenters from across North America and the UK.
Textures in Conversation Symposium
Textures in Conversation: Music, Craft, and the Fibre Arts takes place September 18-20, 2026. The event will feature music performances, art exhibitions and demonstrations; community crafting; an Indigenous arts event; and an academic symposium.

Sharon Wei led a musical gallery inspired by Western University's Northern Tornadoes Project and other weather and nature-inspired research. Learn more
Research-Creation Showcase (2020)
Professors Robert Toft and Sharon Wei were featured, alongside researchers from the Faculty of Information and Media Studies, Faculty of Health Sciences (Nursing), and Faculty of Arts and Humanities, at a Research-Creation Showcase event hosted in the Music Building by Assistant Dean of Research, Emily Abrams Ansari.
FIMULAW Interdisciplinary Research Day (2017-19)
A joint effort between the Faculties of Information and Media Studies, Music, and Law at Western University, FIMULAW provided graduate students and faculty members across three faculties the opportunity to work together to address shared concerns meriting novel, interdisciplinary responses.
