Setting an example
Western Music faculty member, Colleen Richardson, believes it’s important to "put your money where your mouth is". This is one of the reasons why she has been donating to Western Music for several years. Colleen recognizes how hard the music students work and she feels they need donor funds so that they can focus on their education and their craft.
Feeding the soul
Londoner Susan Agranove has been enjoying performances at Western Music for decades and in recent years she has been giving back to the students she enjoys seeing perform.
Eight years ago, Susan decided to honour her husband when he passed away, by supporting Western Music students. At first, she only planned to fund three student awards for one year but that year she got so much satisfaction out of helping the students and also engaging with them, that she decided to continue supporting three awards annually ever since.
Feeling appreciated
Western Music student, Terrence Wu, is passionate about his music and education and is extremely thankful to donors for helping support his aspirations. The second-year student is the 2019-20 recipient of the Fred Pattison Piano Award and says he and other music students benefit from donor support through not only awards but also opportunities to engage with and see visiting artists perform on campus.
