Popular Music Studies

popular music studies students

The BA Major in Popular Music Studies prepares students to excel in an increasingly volatile creative music industry. From culture studies to songwriting to game scoring and audio engineering to project management, plus all the myriad musical opportunities in between, today’s successful musician requires the sort of technical and aesthetic flexibility that results from the broadest possible training.

While performance is not a requirement for students enrolled in the program, students embrace the opportunity to perform with their fellow students. Programming typically includes students' original songs and arrangements.

Popular Music Studies is housed within the Music Research and Composition Department.
