Combined Degree Programs with Ivey Business School

The Programs

These combined programs are five-year compressed, collaborative programs leading to a general Bachelor of Music (Honours), Bachelor of Arts (Honours Specialization in Music), or Bachelor of Arts (Major in Music) and a BA in Honours Business Administration (HBA). 

Program Description

Year 1
Taken in the Faculty of Music, regular full course load (BMus or BA requirements)

Year 2
Taken in the Faculty of Music, regular full course load (BMus or BA requirements) – Prerequisite for HBA: Business Administration 2257 (taken as a year 2 non-music elective)

Year 3
HBA 1 – taken in the Ivey School of Business

Years 4 & 5
5.0 Music courses and 6.0 HBA2 credits divided across two years

Admission Requirements

Students must apply separately and meet normal admission requirements for both programs. Students may apply to the HBA program during their second year in the Bachelor of Music (Honours), Bachelor of Arts (Honours Specialization in Music), or Bachelor of Arts (Major in Music) program, or directly out of high school as part of the Ivey Business School’s Academic Excellence Opportunity (AEO).

To be eligible for consideration for admission to the combined program, in the first two years students must complete all requirements for years one and two of one of the designated music programs, and Business Administration 2257. In the first two years, students must attain a minimum weighted average of 78%, a minimum mark of 70% in Business Administration 2257, and no mark less than 60%. They must also gain admission to the HBA program through the Ivey Business School’s regular application process.

Degrees

Upon graduation from this combined program, students will receive a Bachelor of Musical (Honours), Bachelor of Arts (Honours Specialization in Music), or Bachelor of Arts (Major in Music) and a BA in Honours Business Administration.

Fee Structure

Fees for years 1 and 2 are regular BMus/BA fees. Fees for year 3 are according to the HBA1 assessment. Fees for years 4 and 5 are a combination of HBA2 and regular BMus/BA fees. Visit the “Fee Schedule” page and download the “Combined Programs” PDF for current tuition cost.
