Students take the stage!
As mid-terms approach, October brings the first student performances of the year. First up this year is the Student Composers Fall concert followed by the Symphonic Band and Wind Ensemble.
We look forward to welcoming this year’s distinguished Parsons and Poole Concert and Masterclass guest artist, Ingrid Fliter, piano, on Oct. 24 and 25.

Behind the events
Students are fully in the swing of things by October and first performances come up quickly. As this year’s reading week falls at the beginning of the month, student ensembles are scheduled towards the end of the month.
Have you bought your opera ticket for next month's production of Mozart’s Don Giovanni? We expect this timeless masterpiece, filled with both comedy and tragedy to captivate audiences of all ages. Book via the Opera at Western page.
News and Changes
Our printed concert guide is published each year in August, with changes, edits and updates to be expected. This month's updates will be listed here:
- October 2 - "Fridays" series - Josh Lovell is no longer able to perform as scheduled, but we are pleased to welcome celebrated Canadian bass-baritone Stephen Hegedus for this event. In addition, Stephen will stay with us for the afternoon to give a public voice masterclass with current Western Music students. Check the "Fridays" page for updates.
- November 27 - "Fridays" series - Kevin McMillan, baritone, and collaboarative pianist Gabriel Dobner have been rescheduled to Friday, Oct. 30. Updated artist information will be announced soon. Check the "Fridays" page for updates.
