A NOTEWORTHY NOVEMBER
From the debut of opera to the return of the Early Music Studio, the Jazz Ensemble and everything in between, this month boasts incredible variety not to mention the special celebrations to mark Western's International Week!
This month’s Fridays at 12:30 series welcomes Musicians from Marlboro for a special extended two-hour concert program on Nov. 14 and guest artists James Campbell, clarinet and Leopoldo Erice, piano, on Nov. 28.
Mid-month, guest artist Pierre-Laurent Aimard, piano, joins us for a concert and masterclass made possible by the Moscovich Fund for Innovation in Music. While admission is free, pre-registration is required for the concert on Nov. 16.
Opera at Western presents the timeless masterpiece, Mozart’s Così fan tutte with dialogue and music in Italian. We look forward to welcoming you to Paul Davenport Theatre for a stunningly modern setting of this emotional tightrope act of an opera, always teetering between the serious and the comedic!
Our first of a series of special instrument days and open houses take place this month. On Nov. 23 community members are welcome to take part in Brass Day. Participants can expect a full day of events and activities for trumpet, horn, trombone, tuba, and baritone/euphonium enthusiasts of all ages. This year's guest artist is Will Leathers, Principal Trumpet of the Nashville Symphony Orchestra. Please visit the website for more details as they become available.
The first round of student chamber music recitals kick off in November, starting with two showcase concerts.
Western's annual International Week inspires the return of Songs of Many Lands, where students sing works from regions around the world.
At the end of the month, we expect several school groups to descend on the always-popular Percussion Ensemble, but don't worry, there’s both a lunch-hour and evening concert available (same program).

Behind the Events
November usually flies by for students as they work towards the end of the fall term, with final essays, projects and performances all coming due.
We're also focused on Western's Fall Preview Day, where we host a full slate of specialized activities, student-led tours and program-specific presentations for our future musical Mustangs. Know a prospective student considering Western Music? Check out the website for the schedule and to register.
For school groups and studio teachers, we encourage you to reach out for personalized programming for your students. Help them get to know what it's like to study music at the post-secondary level. We pride ourselves on the supportive and friendly atmosphere students learn in at Western—contact agorbase@uwo.ca for opportunities or check the Visits and Tours webpage for more.
