Ran Jiang is a PhD student in Music Education at Western University. She earned her Master’s degree in Music Education from Western University and her Bachelor’s degree from China Conservatory of Music. Ran has been awarded the Ontario Graduate Scholarship (OGS) for three years to support her research, focusing on sociological theories as they apply to formal and informal music education contexts, as well as the integration of artificial intelligence (AI) in music education.
Ran’s scholarly interests are centred on the intersection of music technology, sociology, and disability studies in music education. She's currently serving as a guest editor for the special issue of Action, Criticism, and Theory for Music Education (2023-2025), focusing on AI and music education. Ran also serves as the convenor for the Music Technology Special Interest Group for the International Society for Music Education (ISME) between 2024 and 2026, as well as an editorial assistant for the Journal of Music, Technology & Education.
