Duncan McCallum is a PhD student in musicology at Western University. Duncan holds a Master of Arts in musicology from Western (2023), and a Bachelor of Music (Honours) with a minor in history from McMaster University (2022). Duncan’s research interests lie in popular music, sound studies, and ecomusicology, especially as they relate to Canadian music.
During his time at McMaster, Duncan served as President of both the McMaster Music Society (2020-22) and McMaster Concert Band (2021-22). At Western, he is affiliated with the Centre for Climate Change, Sustainable Livelihoods and Health as an ecomusicology researcher. Outside of academia, Duncan performs regularly with rock and jazz groups throughout southern Ontario, and has even performed at the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame in Cleveland, Ohio.
