Welcome Michael Schutz, Visiting Western Research Chair
The Don Wright Faculty of Music is pleased to welcome and host Dr. Michael Schutz (Associate Professor of Music Cognition and Percussion, McMaster University) this coming semester as a Visiting Fellow Western Research Chair.
Dr. Schutz will be the first person campus-wide to hold this particular chair at Western—part of a new suite of Western Research Chair positions. We are honoured to be the first faculty to receive this prestigious award to enable us to host Dr. Schutz and thank Western Research for their support.
Dr. Schutz is joining us for a semester of his sabbatical to work on several SSHRC-funded collaborative projects with Dr. Jonathan De Souza and other members of the Music, Cognition, and the Brain Research Group. They will be working with a team of Western Music grad students on projects that examine relations between musical structure and music perception.
