Collaborative pianist Sunhwa Her is currently pursuing a Doctor of Musical Arts degree at Western University under Dr. Kyung Kim, where she is also a graduate teaching assistant. Originally from South Korea, Sunhwa completed both her Bachelor and Master of Music Degrees in Piano Performance and Literature at Jeonju University, and then further refined her artistry in Italy, receiving an Artist Diploma from the Arena Academy of Music in Rome under the tutelage of renowned pianists Ferrini M. Jianni and Fausto di Cesare.
Sunhwa's musical odyssey next took her to Brandon University in Canada, where she earned her Master of Music Degree in Collaborative Piano under the direction of Dr. Kyung Kim – also earning the Brandon University Gold Medal, awarded to the graduate student with the highest standing in the music program. Dedicated to strong community involvement and engagement throughout her career, Sunhwa has been actively involved in various musical programs and institutions, including as pianist for the Suzuki Talent Education Program at Brandon University, piano instructor at the Acadia School, and piano instructor at the Eckhardt-Gramatte Conservatory of Music, Brandon University.
As a collaborative pianist, Sunhwa has had the privilege of actively collaborating with numerous professional choirs, vocalists, and instrumentalists in Canada, South Asia, South Korea, and the United States.
