Estefanía Urqueta Contreras is a second year PhD student in Music Education at Western University. She earned her master's degree in arts with a specialization in Music Research from the Catholic University of Chile. Estefanía also holds a bachelor teaching degree of Social Sciences from the Catholic University of Valparaíso, Chile.
Her interest in education and teaching has always been a core part of her professional experience. Estefanía has worked as a teacher in Chilean public and private schools as a social science teacher, and in socio-academic programs that assist low-income students. Also, as a teacher, she has broadened her experience within the field of arts, working in the educational departments of cultural institutions and museums, and working in pedagogical projects that link the arts, humanities and citizenship education.
Estefanía’s professional scholarly trajectory consists in her work as researcher and assistant of several art research projects in Canada and Chile. Her research interests are artistic education, labor music organizations, and cultural policies.
She has collaborated in the indexed journal “Comunicación y medios” (Universidad de Chile) as a guest referee and she is currently part of the board as Vice-president of the Chilean Musicological Society.
