Donna Janowski is a PhD candidate in music education at Western University. She received her Bachelor’s and Master’s degrees in music education from Arizona State University. During her time in Arizona, Donna taught orchestra, general music and piano classes. She has developed a curriculum that is a mixture of traditional orchestra practices and project-based learning. She also facilitated an elective titled, “Musicking.” Students in seventh and eighth grade explored musical elements by creating, performing, arranging, improvising and analyzing music. She most recently taught orchestra at Fairfax County Public Schools. Her research interests include project-based learning, the relationship between YouTube and music education and string pedagogy.
