Beth Tuinstra is a PhD candidate in Music Education at Western University. Her academic journey is grounded in a passion for fostering Indigenization, decolonization, equity, diversity, and inclusion. Her current research focuses on the reclamation of Indigenous identity and culture for people with Indigenous ancestry.

Beth is committed to Indigenization and decolonization as a researcher and educator, and her teaching experiences at both K–12 and post-secondary levels have shaped her understanding of and commitment to creating inclusive and equitable learning environments for all students. Her experiences teaching K-12 and at the undergraduate level highlighted the importance of clear communication and reflective and reflexive teaching practices to support diverse learners. Through her experiences, Beth has gained a unique perspective of the intersection of culture, education, and identity.
