At Western you will have numerous opportunities to hone your music teaching skills. Whether you want to work with young children, high school students, community organizations, or seniors who may be learning music for the first time, we offer a variety of programs designed to allow you to develop as a music educator in “real-world” contexts.

Get to know more about third-year student Toshi Kawabe and the Music and Community course!

A large part of learning key skills in the Bachelor of Music (Music Education) program is getting out in the community and practicing! Through his placement at L'Arche London, Toshi participated in various activities and took on a variety of roles through their music programs which "offer a unique and inclusive space for individuals with and without intellectual disabilities to come together and create beautiful music."

We were able to catch Toshi in action at one of L'Arche's Monday Morning Music Club sessions and learn a little more about this placement experience and the Music and Community course.
