Selin Uctu Atiseri is currently a PhD student at the Don Wright Faculty of Music, Western University. She earned her bachelor’s degree (BMus) in violin performance under the guidance of Professor Jerrold Rubenstein and completed her master’s degree (MA) in violin performance with Professor Joshua Epstein, both at Dokuz Eylul University (Türkiye). She later earned a second master’s degree in music education (MMus) from Western University in 2023.
Selin performed as a tutti violinist with the Bursa Regional State Symphony Orchestra (Türkiye) from 2013 to 2015. She subsequently served as a full-time faculty member at Dokuz Eylul University, where she also held the position of second violin leader in the Dokuz Eylul University Symphony Orchestra from 2015 to 2022.
Bringing her perspective from Türkiye to Canada, Selin’s research interests focus on disability studies—particularly dyslexia—and social justice and equity in music education. Her goal is to expand music education opportunities for individuals with disabilities by addressing and reducing exclusive practices in the field.
In addition to her academic work at Western, Selin actively engages with the community through music education in London, Ontario.
