Established in the fall of 2022, the Pop Band is one of Western’s newest ensembles. The Pop and Salsa bands are led by trombone faculty member Denis Jiron.
The Pop Band is a large format ensemble playing North American popular music ranging from the 1950s to present day. Selections include small-format intimate pieces to large-format dance-oriented tunes with a full horn section.
This course prepares musicians for professional situations they may encounter in their future, including composing adaptations and arrangements of famous tunes for the ensemble.
