Michael Cavanagh appointed Artistic Director of the Royal Swedish Opera
Music faculty member and stage director for many operas at the Don Wright Faculty of Music, Michael Cavanagh, has been appointed Artistic Director of the Royal Swedish Opera.
One of North America’s most sought-after and prolific opera directors, Michael Cavanagh has directed more than 150 opera productions at over 30 opera companies across Canada, the U.S. and Europe, including The Mikado, The Turn of the Screw, Falstaff, L'heure espagnole, and L'enfant et les Sortilèges at Western University. He starts his five-year appointment with the Royal Swedish Opera in the fall of 2021.
