Do you have an idea for a community engagement project? Need funding? Apply for CLEE!
The Dean's Office at the Don Wright Faculty of Music is very excited to announce the pilot formation of CLEE (Community Leadership, Entrepreneurship, and Engagement Laboratory) which will award current undergraduate and/or graduate students seed money of up to $2,000 to offset costs and expenses related to the initiation of individual or collaborative musical community engagement proposals or projects.
As one of the most outward facing units at Western, the Don Wright Faculty of Music has a significant role to play in facilitating and building mutually supportive community engagement and leadership relationships with London, Southwestern Ontario, and GTA communities. Proposals for funding would ideally help address themes/issues of social justice, diversity, Truth and Reconciliation, cross-disciplinary, and socio-economic accessibility.
Additional Information
Examples of possible proposals include, but are not limited to:
- Performances in the community.
- Targeted outreach to school music programs (academic and applied) and other community music programs within Southwestern Ontario and the Greater Toronto Area).
- Formation of a community organization related to the themes listed above (e.g. - https://bordercrossingmn.org/).
- Service projects to musical organizations in Southwestern Ontario.
Group proposals and project collaborations with other students and constituents within and outside the Don Wright Faculty of Music community are also encouraged. Student/faculty and student/staff collaborative project proposals may also be submitted.
All projects must be successfully completed within one year of being awarded a CLEE grant, which should be outlined in the detailed timeline of your project.
