Trombone quartet performs at London Knights game

“I love trombone for events exactly like this. I really like getting to play with my friends, with my colleagues."

That’s music student Amy Jordaan, member of the Don Wright Faculty of Music’s trombone quartet who played the national anthem during the December 15, 2024 London Knights hockey game. The quartet was formed as part of this year's Chamber Music program, are coached by faculty member Shawn Spicer, and are in Denis Jiron's trombone teaching studio.

Student trombonist Will Cavanagh, who also organized discounted student tickets for his fellow students for the occaision, arranged this opportunity for the group. "The thing I'm most excited about here besides being able to play on the ice is, I've seen a bunch of school groups do this before, so I figured why not try reaching out to the organizer folks here and see if we could do it with the Trombone Quartet."

Congratulations to the quartet for making us "purple and proud" in the London community!
