Master's Student Julia Brotto Named Apprentice Conductor for Canadian Chamber Choir
Congratulations to current Master's (Choral Conducting) student Julia Brotto who has been named the Canadian Chamber Choir’s (CCC) Apprentice Conductor for their upcoming Alberta tour.
Julia will have the opportunity to conduct the professional Juno-nominated choir in select repertoire during both rehearsal and performance under the guidance of the choir’s Artistic Director and Western alum, Dr. Julia Davids.
Julia Brotto is an Ontario-certified teacher pursuing a Master of Music Performance in Choral Conducting at Western. Holding Honours Bachelor of Music and Master of Teaching degrees from the University of Toronto, Julia has taught Kindergarten to Grade 12 vocal, strings, and instrumental music. An avid choral singer and conductor, Julia was a member of the National Youth Choir of Canada in 2020 and the Junior Chorus Conductor at VIVA Singers Toronto. Currently, she is one of the assistant conductors for Les Choristes and sings in Western University Singers.
The CCC offers some of Canada’s finest choral singers a professional choral environment in which to nurture their gifts, and the singers in turn give of their talents to the communities in which they perform. Each CCC tour features workshops for local singers and conductors of all ages and stages, as well as performances of diverse music by Canadian composers both established and emerging. Through these interactions, the CCC has inspired, nurtured, and mentored thousands of choral enthusiasts while working to champion the vast wealth of choral music created in Canada.
