Don Wright Faculty of Music mourns the loss of Robert Hughes

It is with deep regret and sorrow that we share the news of Professor Robert (Bob) Hughes passing on November 11, 2024.
Long-time professor of percussion at the Don Wright Faculty of Music and devoted mentor to many of our graduates and alumni, Professor Hughes' passion for teaching and performing was infectious and endearing to all who were fortunate enough to know him, and his musical and pedagogical legacy was foundational to the development and reputation of our music program. His continued presence as a member and performer in our New Horizons Band program was inspiring and wonderful.
There will be an online commemorative “Celebration of Life” on Sunday, February 9th via Zoom. To register to attend, visit the tribute website.
Please join us in offering our community’s deepest condolences and sympathies to Professor Hughes' family, friends, colleagues, and alumni. The February 9th event will indeed be a joyous celebration of his life, passion for music and his students, and his deep impact on the trajectory of our Faculty.
