Global trombone talent converges at Western for historic international festival

From July 16-19, more than 600 trombonists joined together for the first-ever Canadian location of the International Trombone Festival (ITF). Hosted at Western by faculty member Denis Jiron, the four-day event is an annual gathering of the world's trombone community where enthusiasts can hear and learn from renowned musicians and educators.

The International Trombone Association selected Western as the host institution after Jiron submitted a bid outlining the world-class concert halls and facilities at the Don Wright Faculty of Music, and the proximity of London, Ont, to major centres, with its status as Canada’s first UNESCO City of Music.
