Biography

Pianist Songlee Kim has performed extensively as a soloist, chamber musician, and concerto soloist throughout South Korea, the United States, Canada, and Europe. She is currently pursuing the Doctor of Musical Arts in Piano Performance at Western University under the guidance of Dr. Kyung Kim, where she previously earned both her Bachelor and Master of Music degrees. Prior to her studies at Western, she studied with Dr. Kyung Kim at the University of Minnesota Twin Cities.

At Western University, she currently serves as a Collaborative Pianist for the Choir and as a Teaching Assistant in Keyboard Harmony, supporting both choral performances and undergraduate music instruction.

Kim is the recipient of numerous awards, including First Prize at Western University’s 2023 Maritsa Brookes Concerto Competition, where she performed Saint-Saën's Piano Concerto No. 2 with the Western University Symphony Orchestra under the baton of Simone Luti. She also received First Prize at the 2022 Fred Pattison Piano Competition, Grand Prize at the 2023 Virtuoso International Music Awards, and Third Prize at the 2022 International Mozart Competition.

Her recent international engagements include a performance of Mozart’s Piano Concerto No. 12 in A major, K. 414 with the Euro Arts Orchestra in Szczecin, Poland. She has also participated in the New York Piano Camp, collaborating with internationally renowned artists and young musicians in an intensive performance and educational program.

In addition to her performing career, Kim is an active educator and entrepreneur. She is the co-owner of Song & Song Piano Academy in Jeonju, South Korea, where she mentors talented pre-college pianists while continuing an active career as both a performer and teacher.
