Biography
Aldo Ginting is an Indonesian conductor, educator, vocal coach, and singer. He conducts the award-winning Telkom University (Indonesia) Choir, actively competing at international choral competitions. Under his direction, the Telkom University Choir has achieved numerous international achievements, including the Grand Champion title at the 74th International Polyphonic Competition Guido d’Arezzo (Italy, 2026), thereby qualifying the choir for the European Grand Prix for Choral Singing 2027. The choir also received Grand Champion titles at the Botticelli International Choral Festival (Italy, 2022) and the Taipei International Choir Competition (Taiwan, 2019). Other notable achievements include 1st Prize at the Certamen Internacional de Habaneras y Polifonía (Spain, 2024), the Busan International Choral Festival & Competition (South Korea, 2021), the Krakow International Choir Festival (Poland, 2018), and the Franz Schubert International Choir Competition (Austria, 2018). Aldo and the Telkom University Choir have also been invited to perform internationally. In 2022, the Telkom University Choir was invited as a guest choir to perform in Daegu and Busan, South Korea, as part of the Busan International Choral Festival & Competition. In 2026, the choir was invited by UT Insieme Vocale-Consonante to perform in two concerts in Piuro, Italy.
Aldo has also received recognition as a conductor, including the Conductor Award at the Penabur International Choir Festival (Indonesia, 2024) and the Botticelli International Choral Festival (Italy, 2022). At the 74th International Polyphonic Competition Guido d’Arezzo (Italy, 2026), he received a Special Mention for the choice of an interesting repertoire, well suited to the characteristics of the choir.
In 2025, Aldo completed his Master of Music degree in Choral Conducting at Western University (Canada). His conducting studies have included mentorship with Dr. Tracy Wong (Malaysia–Canada), Dr. Joel Navarro (Philippines), Nicolas Fink (Germany), Lorenzo Donati (Italy), Dody Soetanto (Netherlands), and Prof. Ragnar Rasmussen (Norway).
Aldo is currently pursuing a Doctor of Musical Arts (DMA) in Choral Conducting at Western University, where he studies under the tutelage of Dr. Mark Ramsay. He currently serves as the conductor of Les Choristes, a treble choir at Western University.
