Redesigned MA in Musicology and MA in Music Theory Programs

The Don Wright Faculty of Music is the first in Canada to offer a 1-year (12-month) MA in Music Theory or Musicology. Our redesigned MA degree programs in both Music Theory and Musicology will continue to provide high-quality courses in a shortened time frame.

Students will take one mandatory course (9725 Introduction to Music Research) and choose 4 others related to either Music Theory or Musicology over the Fall and Winter terms. During the Summer term, students will complete a MA Research Project: a research paper of approximately 40 pages or equivalent creative project.

This exciting redesign offers students a combination of course-based and project-based learning in a more compact, intensive experience. Each year available courses will reflect the strengths and diverse research interests of our music theory and musicology faculty.

Our online 2021 applications is now open. The deadline to submit a complete application is January 15.

For more information, see Admission Requirements and Funding.
