Kyle Zavitz is a PhD candidate in music education at the Don Wright Faculty of Music, Western University. Kyle's research interests have developed from his experiences as both a student and faculty member within numerous music faculties. His research focuses on knowledge production and recontextualisation within the music faculty and how this may affect students' perceived experiences.  

Kyle received a BMus with Highest Honours in performance from Carleton University, studying for an additional year on exchange at the Kunstuniversität Graz in Graz, Austria. He also received a MMus in jazz performance from the University of Manitoba, earning the Desautels Faculty of Music MMus medal for highest standing. Following his Master's degree he worked as a sessional instructor at the University of Manitoba teaching courses on jazz theory, musicianship, and acoustics of music.
