Dr. Matthew T. Shelvock is the Business Affairs Manager at record label called Chillhop -- the current world leader in lo-fi and jazz-influenced hip hop. This record label curates the well-known "lofi hip hop radio - beats to study/relax to" Youtube Playlist.  

Previously, he performed the same role at bitbird records and Heroic Management, where he  worked with internationally celebrated artists such as San Holo, Stephen, Why Mona, DROELOE, Taska Black, Fytch, Duskus, Flaws, EASTGHOST, Unlike Pluto and numerous others. He is also a researcher, mastering engineer, and producer, having performed audio services on over 300 records, including Juno and CCMA nominated records, as well as other chart-topping releases. 

As a professional musician, he has worked with Grammy/Juno/Billboard award-winning personnel such as Skip Prokop (Lighthouse, Janis Joplin, Supersession), Josh Leo (LeAnn Rimes, Lynyrd Skynyrd, Glen Frey), and others. 

Matthew’s research investigates musical competencies that are required to create and exploit recordings, such as audio engineering and music production skills, as well as licensing strategies within a global context.

He is currently completing two manuscripts (Routledge) on the topics of audio mastering and sampling in the cloud-based music production paradigm. His research appears in numerous collected editions and journals, such as the Journal on the Art of Record Production, Innovation in Music, and Perspectives on Music Production (Routledge).
